Adobe floors are one of the most intriguing but misunderstood natural building materials. But we've come a long way from dirt floors, baby. Adobe floors can be stunningly beautiful, with a texture like leather. Sealers make them easy to clean and scratch-resistant. And you can even install them in wet areas, like kitchens and bathrooms. Best of all...they are non-toxic, made from local clay soil, and you can TOTALLY install them yourself!!

FB: Batch rocket bell heater, feedback

So, what I've been doing for the last two and a half weeks. After firing up the cob rocket at the last day last year, build a rocket mass heater with bench (Tony) and now finished my first batch rocket bell heater (Christophel). The batchbox design was heavily inspired by Peter van de Berg ( www.batchrocket.eu ) Big respect for this man and the whole open source rocket community.
Learned a lot. I'm no bricklayer and this is by far the biggest project so far. Working with the materials I had salvaged. The mortar is a self made mix, including cob from my first rocket. Now with more sand and additional wood ash. So far very surprised how it's holding up. The heater is burning for the second day and still in the process of drying. Something that wouldn't be possible with portland sement. Next to some ecological benifits, great stuff to work with and very rewarding.
Also the old drum from the cob rocket found its place to the top. And has been bricked in. The stone shell that appeared did remind me of a turtle. So I've named the stove Christophel.
The stove is working great, smokeless exhaust, so a clean burn. The oven seems to be holding temperatures between 150 and 230 degrees celcius. We'll find out if that's going to work. 😁 For me is a big success already. For next year, a bench will be connected to the system. A nice bonus for the new living.
Only thing, no backsmoke when opening the door 😁
