Beautiful cabin in a wood of Westbrook (Connecticut, USA) built in just six weeks

„Carpenter Dave Herrle built a beautiful cabin in a wood of Westbrook (Connecticut, USA) in just six weeks. By using recovered materials, it reduced the cost of construction to US $ 4,000. He hopes that the house, which he called Wee House , will bring him to a self-sufficient lifestyle.

The two storey structure is located on the side of a hill and has a balcony from which you can see the surrounding forest. It measures 3.35 x 4.26 meters. It is small, but functional. On the ground floor are the kitchen and the living room and on the upper floor is the bedroom.

Construction took about six weeks. "After taking a few glasses of wine on New Year's Eve, I promised my future wife that I would make her a tree house. The next morning, we woke up and started working, "says Herrle on her website. In February, the house was already finished. To do this, they recovered wood from different places and reused doors and windows. This allowed them to reduce costs to only US $ 4,000.

Herrle was not always a carpenter: "For a long time I had a bad time because I was not 'normal'. I graduated from a small liberal arts college and got an office job I always hated. In 2007, my life changed drastically after trekking down the Appalachian Trail. That experience changed my outlook on life and I am fortunate that it happened to me at age 27 and not at age 67. The time I spent in the forest allowed me to see the benefits of simplicity. There I promised myself that I would not spend my life on a job I did not enjoy, "Dave said in a dialogue with Tree Hugger news portal .

Today, the couple spends most of their time in their tree house. Inside their property they have another house, but it is in the cabin where they find a space to develop their creativity. Herrle now offers its construction services to help other people get their dream home. "I never felt carpentry like a job. I am fortunate to have found my true passion in life, and that passion translates into my enthusiasm for every new project, "Harrle explains on his site. “

Изненадах се, като ми поиска остатъците тапети от ремонта – куп парчотии. После ме хвана яд, че не съм се сетила сама – страшна идея!
